"Everything is a Grace" If you knew Catherine, this quote would resonate as she lived her life with that motto.
Catherine was born in Puerto Rico on June 22, 1947, and passed suddenly at her home in Virginia Beach, VA, October 17, 2025.
Her early years were spent living in Germany, Spain, and California as her father was in the Army. After his retirement, the family moved to Vestal, NY, where she met the man of her dreams- her beloved husband Tom. Tom and Catherine were married 58 years and raised three children together. Tom worked as a pharmacist while Catherine stayed home to ensure their children didn't want for anything. In 1985, they relocated the family to Virginia Beach, VA, where Catherine quickly immersed herself in the local community with the Republican Party. Through this work, she became a force to be reckoned with. In 1994, then Governor George Allen appointed her as Chair of the Alcohol Beverage Control Board for Virginia. She was able to travel to many places through this opportunity and once she was done with that, she turned her attention to KIS Computers, which she purchased and held the position of President and CEO. During her time with KIS, Catherine was instrumental in helping other women and minority owned small businesses thrive through her mentorship. She was a founding member of WIPP PAC (Women Impacting Public Policy), sat on the Board of Directors for Wetlands Board, and was a member of the board for ODU Research Foundation and JMU Technology School. She established a scholarship at JMU for minority young ladies wanting to enter into the technology field. In 2013, Catherine sold KIS and retired.
After retirement, Catherine focused her life on her children and grandchildren until her sudden passing. They were the light of her life and brought her tremendous joy. Her unending faith in God sustained her soul.
Besides her loving and devoted husband, Tom, Catherine is survived by her three children: Gina Giordano (Paul Bailey), Tom Giordano (Kelli), John Giordano (April); six grandchildren, Lauren Ayres (Ryan), Baxter McEnerney, Kacie, Emily, Gabriel, and Nathaniel Giordano, and great-grandson Owen.
Nono, as she was known to family, will be desperately missed. "Everything is a Grace"
The family will receive friends from 12pm till 1pm, Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home.
