Lilian Perez Obispo, 79, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on Thursday, October 9th 2025 after a long, fulfilling life.
She was born on September 18th, 1946 in Cavite City, Philippines to Iluminada Solomon Perez and Gregorio Perez. She graduated from Cavite National High School and also attended Leycium University.
In 1967 she married Sam Obispo. They met in Cavite City, Philippines when he moved from Zamables, to stay with his relatives who happened to be her neighbor. Sam joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 and was eventually stationed in San Diego, CA. In 1973, Lilian and their first born Ray, joined him in San Diego and began their life in the United States. They raised three children, Raymond, Elaine, and Ronald.
Lilian loved spending quality time with her family and friends, gathering for celebrations, sharing food, listening to music, playing games, and singing karaoke. She was blessed with strong bonds within the community through her active participation within the Cavite Association of Tidewater, Filipiniana of Virginia, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Sunshine Club for Seniors, Zambales Association Incorporated, and numerous friendships she made in the states and in the Philippines. Lilian also loved to bake and make deserts for her loved ones. Her specialties were bilanghoy (cassava) and leche flan. Lilian truly adored being a giver and was always looking for ways to make sure that everyone in her life was welcomed and taken care of.
Her legacy as a mother, grandmother, friend, and Godmother will be cherished eternally. Lilian also embodied resilience, strength, and perseverance as she overcame numerous health obstacles in the later years of her life. Despite those obstacles, she lived life with dignity and still had the strength and energy to be with her friends and family for every occasion. She will be remembered for her warm hospitality, loving care, welcoming nature, and big heart. Her light will forever radiate and be felt as her amazing qualities are reflected within her children and grandchildren.
Lilian is survived by her husband, Samuel Obispo, her children, Raymond, Elaine and husband, Erik Olbes, Ronald and wife Eleanor Obispo, her grandchildren, Chloe Love, Emree Sky, Noli Rockelle, Zoie Olbes, and Ean Olbes, and her siblings, Leonardo, Larry, and Luz- who will forever cherish her memory.
Lilian was predeceased by her mother, Iluminada Solomon Perez, her father, Gregorio Perez, her sister Leila Perez-Gludo who are now with her on her new journey.
A very special thank you to Sentara Healthcare, Marian Manor Senior Living Community, Princess Anne Rehabilitation Center, CNA Jackie Torres, and Josie Palanca for helping us take great care of her when she returned home.
