Catherine Williams Goss

September 11, 1954 – February 12, 2025

Catherine Williams Goss, age 70, of Rockwood, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Cathy was born on September 11, 1954, in Rockwood, Tennessee, to Leroy C. and Bonnie Howard Williams. She was the beloved second child in her family, growing up alongside her older sister, Sheila, and younger brother, Roy Dean. She was baptized in 1968 and remained a devoted member of Pond Grove Christian Church throughout her life.

A proud graduate of Rockwood High School, Class of 1972, Cathy cherished the friendships she made and the teachers within the Rockwood City School System who influenced her education. Her career spanned various industries, beginning at the shirt factory in Spring City before moving on to hosiery mills in Harriman and Dayton, where she spent 25 years. Seeking a change, she later worked at the Roane County Jail under Sheriff David Haggard and then transitioned into private security, spending eight years at Kimble Chase and Thermo Fisher in Rockwood.

Cathy had a lifelong passion for genealogy, beginning her research at age 16. She took great pride in tracing her ancestors back to some of the earliest settlers. This passion led to numerous adventures with her sister Sheila, culminating in the fulfillment of their shared goal of visiting all 48 contiguous states in 2022.

Cathy is survived by her grandsons, Joey King and Thackery Porter of Rockwood, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Richard Lemons of Spring City, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Linda Galloway Williams of Huntsville, TX; daughter, Kelly Wolfe of Henning, TN; and numerous cousins of Williams’, Clifton’s, Howard’s, and O’Leary’s and their families.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the chapel at Evans Mortuary. Cremation arrangements have been made and a private interment will be held at a later date. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Catherine Williams Goss.
