Catherine Diane (McCann) Hay, a dedicated elementary school teacher for the Flint System for over 30 years, has passed away at the age of 88. She was born on July 2, 1936, in Flint, Michigan, and departed on July 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Huntersville, North Carolina.

Catherine will always be remembered as our beloved Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother She was the daughter of the late Gordon and Estelle (Keenan) McCann. Catherine is survived by her sons Jeff and Wendy Hay, Paul and Cheryl Hay, Mark and Shawn Hay, John Hay; her son-in-law David Anderson; along with 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Thomas Hay; and daughter Teressa Anderson.

Catherine's passion for travel took her to all continents; she particularly loved cruising. Warm weather, a good book by the pool made her truly happy. Additionally, she was a long-time member of the Clio Country Club and an ardent Michigan State Spartan fan.

She graduated from St. Michael Catholic School in Flint, Michigan before earning a Bachelor's degree in Education from Michigan State University. Catherine furthered her education by obtaining a Master's Degree from Central Michigan University.

Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Catherine's life at the visitation service on Saturday, July 13, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM at Raymer - Kepner (Huntersville) located at 16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. The funeral service will follow at the same location starting at 11:00 AM.

Catherine touched the lives of many with her kindness and dedication both in the classroom and beyond. Her legacy of love and warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

May she rest in eternal peace.
