Catherine Elizabeth Shaddox Imel, 85, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus. She was born on October 19, 1940, in south Mississippi to Henry Lee Shaddox and Viola McKay King. She was the widow of Jerry Lee Imel, Sr. whom she married on August 4, 1958. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the cafeteria at Hamilton School. Most importantly, she was a homemaker and raised 6 children and loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping and in her younger years, motorcycle riding.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Jason West officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Hill Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Barnes, Hamilton; 5 sons, Jerry Lee Imel, Jr. (Rebecca), Sulligent, Glen Imel, Hamilton, John Allen Imel (Carolyn), Hamilton, Bud Imel (Amber), Hamilton, and John Wesley Imel (Lisa), Hamilton; 20 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Jerry Lee Imel, Sr.; her siblings, Wayne Shaddox, Barbara Chase, Betty Jo Imel, and James King; daughter-in-law, Myra Jo Imel; son-in-law, Larry Barnes; and two grandchildren, Christopher Glen Imel and Ross Allen Imel.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Lee Imel, Jr., Glen Imel, John Allen Imel, Bud Imel, John Wesley Imel, and Shawn Imel.
Visitation will be from noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
