Catherine Jane Lindenmuth was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on March 7,1929 to Lelia and Edward Deery. She passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 15, 2025. Cathy grew up in Detroit during the depression among a large, loving family of cousins, aunts and uncles. For some of her childhood, she lived within walking distance to the Detroit Institute of Art where she and her friends wandered during their free afternoons. She loved high school sock hops and went on to develop lifelong friendships.
She met her husband Thomas at Greenfield Village in Dearborn Michigan where they both worked as guides upon returning from Army Air Corps duty during occupied Japan. They had three children, Robert Jay Lindenmuth, who lived with his parents, continues to enjoy watching and talking about movies. Kim (Matthew Bueche MD) Lindenmuth MD, an Ophthalmologist and the late John (the late Inok) Lindenmuth. John had a career in the Army, followed by a degree in Library Science. Cathy is the proud grandmother of Corinna (Jamil) Azar, David (Samantha Kopas) Bueche and Laura (Patrick) Bueche McKinney. Great grandmother of Sophia Azar, Nathaniel Azar, Elliott McKinney and James McKinney. Dear sister of Edward J. (Dolores) Deery. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Cathy's husband's engineering job with Chrysler Motors took them to Switzerland, Indianapolis, Farmington Hills, Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan and Huntsville, Alabama. They then retired to Spring Hill, Florida for the next 25 years.
With all these moves, Cathy was still able to quickly develop friendships. She loved to sew, making most of her daughter's clothes. She became an exceptional bridge player. Her longtime friend and bridge partner Sybil reports "they had a lot of fun and didn't take it too seriously".
She supported various groups advocating for children with disabilities. She was a loving wife and mother always ready with advice and support.
When Tom died in 2009 she and Bob decided to move to Naperville, Illinois to be closer to her daughter Kim. They lived for ten years at StoryPoint Retirement community where she again made many friends. She volunteered as a resident representative and helped at the Friday Socials with Bob. In later years she slowed down but continued to meet with friends to chat while enjoyed the hobby of adult coloring.
A celebration of life is planned at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. For full information please contact Kim.
