Catherine Jane Malone, 67, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Owensboro. She was born August 4, 1957 in Owensboro to Robert Griffin Hester and the late Mary Lillian Clark Hester.
What will they say when you Go? There is no doubt what they will say about our mother. "She was truly a child of God."
Growing up from the very beginning, she dragged us crying, screaming kids to church every week. She knew God loved the noise. She took us to Bible schools and church camps. Mom even convinced my non practicing father, to teach youth groups on Wednesday nights to give us even more knowledge of who Jesus is. She was the reason we were both baptized. She sat the foundation that both my sister and I sit on today. She wasn't done. She was a fighter. She had been working on our father for forty plus years. She never gave up on him, and at the age of 62, it finally sunk in. He too, learned how great our God is.
What about outside the family? I can't tell you how many times, people have come up to me, and tell me that our mother is the best hugger in the world. People would tell us that her hugs had healing power. Mom worked 25 years in the Owensboro Public Schools. It's really difficult attending a school where your mother works. Especially when she has healing powers, always a jar full of candy, and was considered a "Hot Momma!" She was all of that lol.
Mom may have only lived to be 67 years old, but she didn't waste a single minute she was given. She was always trying to figure out how to serve others with the next minute. Who could she help? Who just needs a hug or to be held? Who needs to know that they are loved?
They will say, "Truly she was a child of God. One who didn't waste her God given talent. (to share the love of God,)" We love you, Mom.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Kenny Malone; a brother, Rob Hester; and father-in-law, Jim Malone.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Rogers (Dewayne); son, Jarrod Malone (Sarah); father, Robert Hester; grandchildren, Jalen Rogers, Trey Rogers, Jax Malone, Cameron Malone, Parker Malone, Lilly Malone, and John Carson Malone; brother, Larry Hester (Linetta); sister, Karla Hunt (J.R.); sister-in-law, Carol Hester; mother-in-law, Glenda Crump; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Cedarhurst staff and Dolly Horton for the wonderful care they showed towards Mom.
