Catherine Maybin

Catherine Bernice Black Maybin, born on November 24, 1953, in Gastonia, NC, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, in Zirconia, NC, at the age of 72.

Catherine was a cherished member of the Mountain Valley Baptist Church community, where she found solace and strength throughout her life. Her faith was a guiding light, providing comfort to both herself and those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alton C. Maybin, and her son, Raymond Black III. The loss of these dear souls weighed heavily on her heart, but she remained a beacon of love and resilience for her family.

Catherine leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family. She is survived by her daughter, Christian L. Black, who carries forward her mother's compassionate spirit. Her memory will also be cherished by her two grandchildren, James M. Snyder and his wife Rhonda, and her three great-grandchildren, Aubrey Clay, Alannah Snyder, and Irelia Snyder.

A graveside service to honor Catherine's life will be held at Pearson Cemetery on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather at 197 Mountain Valley Cemetery Rd., Zirconia, NC 28790, to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a woman who touched many hearts with her warmth and kindness.

Catherine will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, whose gentle spirit and unwavering love left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she loved.
