Catherine Patnode-Sidders Obituary

Visit the Cremation Society of Waukesha - Brookfield website to view the full obituary.

Cathy Patnode-Sidders of New Berlin, WI, peacefully passed away July 30, 2025, at the age of 61. Cathy courageously fought a long, hard, 8-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). Her fighting spirit and positive attitude, along with her caregiving team, helped her surpass the life expectancy of this disease.

Cathy was born in Milwaukee, WI, to her parents, James Sidders, Sr. and Patricia Sidders, and later moved to Oconomowoc. Her young life was full of medical treatments and surgeries due to a deformed hip socket, but through it all, Cathy’s humor and kindness shined. With the passing of her mom in 1978, Cathy stepped into the role of matriarch of the Sidders family, particularly as a surrogate mother to her younger brother, Tim.

Cathy graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1982. She had a long prestigious career in customer service in the healthcare industry where she developed many long-term friendships with her co-workers. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management from Upper Iowa University.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elizabeth “Betsy”; and brother, Blaine. Survived by her spouse, Linda; stepmother; Elizabeth “Fred”; along with her siblings: James (Linda), John (Dana), Mary (Don), Theresa, and Timothy. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.

Cathy was a huge fan of the outdoors. Spending time camping, swimming, photography, sitting outside in the sun, gardening, and traveling were some of her favorite things to do. She particularly loved hot air balloons and would travel to different festivals with friends to see them.

Her contagious smile, laughter, and twinkle in her eye made her a very special person. She made it her mission to bring people together, whether family or friends. From holiday gatherings, to making Christmas cookies with her nieces, campfires or playing cards with friends, and Packer parties to cheer on her favorite team, Cathy enjoyed it when she could be surrounded by those she loved. She was the glue that held us all together. Even after her diagnosis with ALS, she continued to have game days, Packer parties, and enjoyed entertaining during the holidays.

She will be greatly missed by so many.

Enormously grateful to Daisha and Stefanie, who were her constant caregivers, for their love and care of Cathy. She lasted as long as she did because of the wonderful care she received from them both.

UPDATE:  Cathy's celebration of life will be held on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2025, at Davian's in Menomonee Falls.  Her celebration is from Noon until 4PM, with a small service at 1:15PM.  Heavy appetizers to follow.  If you are planning to join us, let Linda Patnode or Janessa Penneau know so we can ensure we have plenty of food and memories to share.  Davian's N56W16300 Silver Spring Dr. Menomonee Falls WI 53051
