Catherine Mary Schnoes died Oct. 29, 2024 in the comfort of her daughter's home, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 79.
Catherine Dovlet was born Nov. 22, 1944 in Highland Park, MI to the late James and Joyce Dovlet. She graduated from Highland Park High School '62 and went on to Highland Park Community College. After school Cathy worked for Ex-Cell-O Corporation in Highland Park for 8 years in the Pure-Pack and Materials Control Lab. During this time she met her beloved late husband Robert L. Schnoes. They were married on April 30, 1966, had 1 daughter and spent nearly 26 years of marriage together until Bob's death in March '92. Cathy spent many of her days in Ice Arenas and taking her daughter around the country supporting her figure skating career. Before she retired in 2009 she worked for Scott Publications in Marketing Sales, this job moved her to the West side of Michigan, where she spent her last 23 years.
Loving mother of Susan Moran (Brian), caring grandmother of Brendan (19) and Aidan (16). Dear sister of Nancy Downs (Glen) and James Dovlet Jr. (Kim) and sister in law of Edward Schnoes (Judy). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and preceded by 2 nieces and a nephew.
Cathy loved connecting with friends from the present and past. She took it upon herself to post Birthday wishes to most Highland Park alumni from the early 1960's, as well as keeping in contact with her "Parker" friends. She was very giving of herself and time to others. She also attended many class reunions as well as annual class luncheons.
Cathy was very involved in her community. She was the Vice President of the Parkwood Condo Association in Ferrysburg, until she recently resigned due to her health.
She was involved in the many activities going on in Grand Haven and the surrounding areas. She loved listening to live music and was quite devoted to supporting her friends. She loved spending time with her grandsons in the summer, going to the Coast Guard Festival, seeing the Tall ships, going to the beach and supporting their sports and activities throughout the years.
A final wish of Cathy's was to celebrate her 80th birthday and sadly that was not possible but her beautiful family has arranged to have her Memorial Service to celebrate her life and legacy on her birthday Friday, November 22.
Our sincere sympathy is extended to Cathy's family and friends during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are that they will find comfort from the surrounding of family and friends, remembering cherished times shared.
Memorial Service is Friday November 22, 2024 10:30am at White Chapel Cemetery 621 W. Long Lake Rd., Troy. Guests should meet inside the front gate at 10:20am
