Chris was born on April 5, 1981 to Dean and Brenda (Rupp) Schnoes at Sheldon, Iowa. He attended River Valley Schools up until his senior year, when the family moved to Emmetsburg. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1999. Chris earned his Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Lakes Community College and then attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota.
While in Emmetsburg and Brookings, he worked for Pizza Ranch. He then began employment at Walmart while in Brookings, working at different locations earning his way up into their management program. Chris also worked for Frito Lay in Denison, Iowa and Cabela's in St. Louis, Missouri. His favorite job though was Schnoes Outfitting and Carpentry Service, where he enjoyed working with his hands and building different projects. In 2017, upon a second cancer diagnosis, he stopped working having to focus on his health.
He was united in marriage to Kaela Dickson on November 9, 2013.
He enjoyed camping, golfing, and bowling. Chris was an avid hunter and fisherman, and member of Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed doing all these activities with his family, often moving around his treatment to maximize the time that he felt good so he could do the things he loved with the people that meant the most to him. Chris was a selfless man always worried more about others than himself. He loved to love and wanted to be loved. His favorite people call him dad and he cherished the time he was able to spend with his kids.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, John A. and Kathryn E. Schnoes, and Terry D. Rupp.
He will lovingly be remembered by his parents, Dean and Brenda Schnoes of Cleghorn, Iowa; sister, Jennifer and Cody Ohlendorf and their children, EmmaJean, Johnathan, and GracieMae of Remsen, Iowa; grandmother, LaRae Rupp of Cherokee, Iowa; daughter, Courtlyne Schnoes, and her mother, Shelby Kirby of Rock Springs, Wyoming; son and twin daughters, Liam, Adalyne, and Brynn Schnoes, and his wife, Kaela Schnoes; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
