Catherine Sesin

Catherine Veronica (Foley) Sesin, aged 90, passed away after a short illness on June
3, 2023 surrounded by her daughters.
Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Peter. She is survived by
her four children Karen (Dean) Sesin, Mary (Greg) Leben, Peter (Nora) Sesin and
John Sesin. She was Nana to three grandchildren Thomas, Isabel and Samantha.
Catherine was the oldest of six children and raised in Somerville, MA, a close-knit
community of Irish and Italian families. After graduating from high school in 1950,
Catherine worked as an executive secretary in Boston. While on a vacation in the
White Mountains of New Hampshire with her sister Ann and a friend, Catherine met
Peter Sesin. They married in 1957. Leaving the Boston-area and her large extended
family, Catherine moved to Waukegan, Illinois where Pete began his 33-year career
as a research biochemist at Abbott Laboratories. Her Illinois friends began to call
her Kay.
After living in Illinois for 36 years, Catherine and Pete retired to Tucson, Arizona in
1993. They built a house in Saddlebrook with views of the mountains from the
backyard and became parishioners of Santa Catalina Catholic Church. Catherine and
Pete traveled, made many new friends, and enjoyed hosting visits from their
children and grandchildren. They loved living in the desert and did not miss the
Midwest snow and cold. Catherine continued to play bridge, joined ladies putters
and enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles. They lived in Saddlebrook for almost 25
years until moving to Amber Lights Senior Living Community in 2017.
A funeral mass for family and close friends will be held at Santa Catalina Roman
Catholic Church on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 am. A cremation ceremony
for family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of
Catherine Sesin may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at
www.stjude.org or St. Joseph's Indian School at www.stjo.org.
