Catherine Sonstrom Obituary
Catherine Lorraine (Leary) Sonstrom, 97, of Middletown, wife of the late Edward A. Sonstrom, passed away on January 19, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Georgina (Robinson) Leary.
Catherine lived in Middletown all of her life. She graduated Middlesex Hospital School of Nursing and also graduated Eastern CT State University with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. Catherine worked many years for Middlesex Hospital.
Catherine was a member of The Church of the Holy Trinity and volunteered in their English Tea Garden. She also was an avid bowler.
Catherine is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Hills and her husband Benjamin of Middletown; her brother Patrick Leary of Middletown; six grandchildren, Dawn Sbalcio (Stephen), Wendy Sonstrom (Scott), Gretchen Sonstrom (Alan), Steven Hills (Judi), Matthew Hills, Heather Duteau (Jesse) and twelve great grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Gregory, Tristan, Lyndi, Cole, Gabrielle, Aiden, Ian, Aubrey, Mariah and Jasmine.
Along with her husband and parents, Catherine was predeceased by her son Thomas E. Sonstrom.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 26th at 10:00 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, 857 South Main Street, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine's memory may be made to CT Children's Medical Center Foundation, 282 Washington Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
