Catherine Marie Stieb (née Hohnke), born February 8, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2025, in Henderson, Nevada. A devoted mother and grandmother, she is survived by her loving son, Chris Way, and her two cherished grandchildren, Briar and Everly Way.
When she was born, her father, Paul, was in the Navy. The family, which would grow to include Sharon, her sister, moved home to Detroit and later Rochester, Michigan. She would graduate from Rochester High School in 1961.
Catherine dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse, a calling that reflected her deep compassion, strength, and selflessness. She had a creative spirit and loved to travel, knit, and craft stained glass-each piece a reflection of her warmth and artistry.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, sharp wit, and the quiet strength with which she faced life. Her love lives on in the family she held so dear.
A memorial service will be held at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home at a date to be determined. Catherine will be laid to rest at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, Michigan.
The family is tremendously thankful for her caregiving team, whose compassion and dedication brought comfort and dignity to Catherine in her final days.
