Thomas Cornman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gramer Funeral Home – Diener Chapel - Shelby Township from Jul. 22 to Jul. 23, 2025.
Thomas Eugene Cornman Jr., age 58, passed away on July 21, 2025. Known for his generous spirit, big smile, loud laugh, and adventurous nature, Thomas brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Born in Pontiac, Michigan, on October 28, 1966, to Thomas Eugene Cornman Sr. and Linda Diane (Cooley) Cornman, Thomas was raised in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School in 1985. Shortly after graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Following his military service, Thomas began a long and dedicated career with Chrysler. He became a familiar and beloved presence among his coworkers-first at the assembly plant on Jefferson, and since 2001, at the stamping plant. Known affectionately by his colleagues as "Airborne," a nod to his proud military background, Thomas was admired for his work ethic, sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty. His coworkers were more than just colleagues-they became a second family to him, and the bonds they shared lasted far beyond the workday.

Thomas was someone who truly embraced life. He loved going to NASCAR races, attending concerts, traveling, and relaxing with a good movie. He especially cherished time spent at the beach and his annual vacations to the Outer Banks. A proud fan of Detroit sports, he rooted for the Lions and Red Wings-but his favorite team was always the Pittsburgh Steelers. Thomas also had a lifelong love of food, laughter, and simply being around people who brought good energy. His role as a brother and uncle meant the world to him, and family time was what he treasured most. He spent many summers in Pennsylvania as a child, building memories that stayed with him throughout his life.

Thomas is survived by his brother, Robert (Lynn) Cornman; his nieces, Taryn Cornman, Savannah (James) Eyer, and Chloe Cornman; his grandnephew, Cameron Eyer; his stepmother, Bertha Cornman; and his stepdaughter, Heather Lewandowski.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Thomas Sr. and Linda, and by his fiancée, Melissa Wilson.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Gramer Funeral Home Diener Chapel, 48271 Van Dyke Ave., Shelby Twp., MI 48317.

A funeral service will be held at the same location at 11:00 AM Friday, July 25, 2025.
