Catherine Sullivan, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Newtown, Connecticut community, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love. She was born on January 3, 1944, and spent her life nurturing those around her with unwavering support and compassion.

Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Donald Sullivan. Married on June 19, 1965, they shared more than 30 years together, building a loving home and raising their three sons. Catherine is survived by her sons Timothy, Patrick, and Michael; her daughters-in-law Patricia and Debra; and her seven adoring grandchildren: Shay, Lianna, Brooke, Logan, Courtney, Kaila, and Mia - each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life. She is also survived by her cherished later-in-life partner-in-crime, Cindy Dessel.

When her children were young, Catherine was an ever-present figure in their lives - active in scouting and involved in every chapter of their school journeys. Her dedication to her family extended well beyond her own household, as she generously gave her time and heart to her community.

A longtime resident of Newtown, Catherine deeply loved her town and was a devoted member of the Newtown Congregational Church. Her faith and spirit of service led her to volunteer for many local programs and initiatives, including Newtown's Meals on Wheels, the Cornerstone Thrift Shop at the Congregational Church, the Newtown Junior Women's Club and the Newtown Fund's Holiday Basket Program. Catherine also proudly served as past-president of the Newtown fund. Her tireless efforts touched countless lives, and she was always ready to lend a hand, often quietly, humbly, and with a warm smile.

Of all her roles in life, perhaps the one Catherine cherished most was that of "Nana." She held each of her grandchildren close to her heart, celebrating their unique gifts and always offering words of encouragement, praise, and boundless love. In her own words, they are "the flowers on the icing on the cake."

Catherine's warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Her life was a testament to quiet strength, selfless giving, and the profound impact of simple kindness.

A memorial service will be held at the Newtown Congregational Church, on Sunday September 28th at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Catherine's memory to one of the local organizations she held dear.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
