Catherine I Taft  (Strong)“ Cathy” 

Of Irondequoit NY, passed away on December 15, 2024, at the age of 84.Cathy Is preceded in Death by her Husband and the love of her life Roy Taft, and ex-Husband Paul Harter, Parents Albert, and Dorothy Strong, Sisters Joyce McGee and Carol Battle, and Brother William Strong. She is survived by her Daughters Dorothy F. Harter ( Larry Grantham) of Nevada and Deborah S. Galloway(Lance ) of Irondequoit, Ny, Granddaughters Felicia C. Skvarna ( Chris), Monicka A Larrabee ( Shon) both of Nevada and Alexia I. Taft-Soriano ( of New York) Great Grandchildren Ava, Dean, Adelynn and Kinsley(Step Granddaughters) Lili and Kali, 5 Nieces and 9 nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. Catherine Grew up in Irondequoit, NY and in 1958 married her first Husband in Durand Congregational Church at the age of 18, had a daughter at 22 and divorced in 1965. In November 1966 Catherine Married Roy A. Taft of East Williamson, Ny in Rome Ny. Once married They moved to Reno, Nevada to start their new lives and in 1967 had a daughter. Living in Nevada for 45 Years Catherine Took Pride in Her Family and was a Hands-on Parent. From Reno they moved to Fernley, Nevada where they bought their 1st home. She became a Member of the PTA in her children’s school. She was an active parent in Campfire Girls and Blue Birds. She loved Gardening and cooking Crocheting , sewing, and reading, she also had a love for Antique Cars. Catherine never really had a long-term career although she did have a few jobs in Nevada. She worked in the Nutrition services( Lunch Program) in the late 1970’s and in the early 1980’s she was a cook at the Mill House Restaurant in Fernley Nevada. Supporting her children’s love of music and their Dreams for the Future always and encouraging us to be our best selves. In 1986 they moved back to Reno and in 1987 their first Granddaughter was born. In 2012 they Moved Back to Irondequoit, Ny with Daughter (Debi) and her family after Catherine's Husband was Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and in 2015, he passed away. Reuniting her with her family after more than 15 years. She Stayed close to her daughter and little Sister spending time with them until her final days. 

Catherine touched so many lives along the way and never let anyone leave her home Hungry. She had a Kind heart and soul, she was Honest and trustworthy, loved Children and animals and always believed in treating others the way you want to be treated. She always made sure Kids at school had a way home, if they didn’t, she would take them home. Today you would never be able to do what so many parents trusted her to do. 

Thank you to Hospice at RGH for without you comfort care wouldn’t have been possible. Dr Marla Bruns for being so supportive and understanding through all of Catherine’s care. My final thanks is to everyone who has helped catherine’s family get through challenging times. The Family Is Forever Grateful for everyone’s love and support at this time. 

In Lue of Memorial and Flowers A Celebration of Life will Be announced at a later date when it is warm.
