CANTERBURY - Catherine Ann Utz, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at her home with family by her side.

Catherine was born in Canterbury on November 10, 1938, to the late Rene and Aldea Brochu.

After completing high school, Catherine married her beloved husband, Fredric Utz, who predeceased her. Together they raised three children: Daniel Utz, Donna (Utz) Casko, and James Utz.

Catherine was devoted to her family and was known for her quiet strength, kindness, and steady presence in the lives of those who loved her. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and reading, and especially cherished summers spent camping and enjoying boating life with family and friends at Walker's Dock in Stonington, Connecticut. Those summers by the water were among her most treasured memories.

She is survived by her children; her beloved grandchildren: Ashlee, Scott, Kimberly, Michaela, and Nicholas; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Theresa Allard and her husband Leon Allard of Griswold. She was predeceased by her sisters Diane Johns and MaryAnn Chickering .

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 144 Westminster Road, Canterbury, Connecticut. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Carey Cemetery in Canterbury, Connecticut.
