Cathleen M. Murray

Cathleen Mary Murray, of Red Bank, 100 years old, passed away on February 10, 2026 with her family at her side.

Born in Staten Island, NY on August 9, 1925, she was a resident of Holmdel for over 20 years and then moved to Red Bank.

Predeceased by her parents, Gertrude Willoe Cahill and Thomas A. Cahill, her brother, Jack (Betty) Cahill and her beloved husband, Joseph B. Murray, as well as her brother-in laws Jim (Marie)Murray, Ed (Kay)Murray, Bill (MaryBeth)Murray, Bob Murray, Jack (Maureen)Murray.

Cathleen is survived by her children, Patrice Murray, Red Bank; Joseph Murray(Connie), Atlantic Highlands; Christine Boyle, Alexandria, VA and her grandchildren Colleen Boyle, Katherine Boyle, Lauren Murray (fiancé Luke Adams), Thomas Murray and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Cathleen was a friend, mother and grandmother to so many. She was a Nana to the Snyder's: Kathy, Ken, Erin, Brandon, Bry, Morgan, Waverly, Haley, Karen and family.

Cathleen will be remembered as a great wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Cathleen was deeply committed to public service. She was a member and Vice President of the Holmdel Board of Education, founding member and President of The Pleasant Valley Adult Day Care Center, member of St. Catharine's Church Council in Holmdel where she was also a religious education teacher. Member of the Holmdel Music Association and a Member of the Lady of Charity in New York.

Cathleen was the Corporate Director of Volunteer Services and Senior Services at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. She had record numbers of volunteers and was always tapped to bring new programs into the hospital such as Pastoral Care, Bayshore Informational Senior Services (BISS) to help seniors with the navigation of insurance, Diners Club program for seniors. Prior to Bayshore Hospital, Cathleen worked as an Assistant Director of Volunteer Services at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Staten Island, NY.

Cathleen relished her family get-togethers, especially celebrating her birthday at Monmouth Racetrack and the annual Labor Day parties in Lavallette

We wish to thank Thelma, Merah and dear friend Terri Bordiuk, who helped care for Cathleen recently and the Hackensack Meridian Hospice team.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, February 16th from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 17th at 10:30am at the Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road in Holmdel, followed by burial at St. Gabriel's Cemetery in Marlboro.
