On October 12, 2025 the world tilted too far on the left axis. The sun's fire burned cool. The moon cracked. The stars leaped from their constellations. And the ocean lamented. An angel was born that day.

Cathy, as she preferred, was a rare gem. A soul that only few get to meet and fewer get to know in a lifetime. She was the tree of a family. The beginning and the growth. She was the matriarch. The leader and inspiration for all her children.

She gave life and raised five children. Rashonda. Shomari. Kyaira. Niceaus. Paige. Each with a fragment of her in our hearts. Bleeding through our creativity, curiosity, determination, resilience and love. The creativity to do this life to the best of our abilities, as she always taught and tried to do. Our curiosity to never stop learning and persevering. Determination to keep happiness, hope, faith on this earth without her voice and touch. Resilience to remain who we've always been and to stay true, and good. And the love, to be in love, feel love, give love.

Cathy loved love, and she loved fiercely and courageously. Her love was unconditional and limitless. She was a fighter, a protector and defender. Nurturing and generous. She was forever a student, learning cosmetology, writing and art, medicine and above all, cooking. Cathy was a homemaker. Her favorite place was the kitchen of a home. Tweaking recipes and discovering new tricks and tastes. She cared for the home, made it warm and safe. She was warmth and safety.

This is not a formal death notice. It could never be such where Cathy is concerned. Her life has not ended in a traditional sense. It has simply changed. Like the seasons. Like moving from one place to another. Her soul has gone to somewhere higher and unexplainable. She has changed from a physical being into essence. So let us not think of Cathy with sorrow. We will remember and we will smile, laugh, and there will be tears, but let them be tears of appreciation and endearment.
