Cathryn M Wiltanger

Cathy Wiltanger passed away peacefully on October 24th. At her side, was her husband of 60 years, her children and many loved ones. Born on 9/6/44 in Oil City, PA, Cathy was a loving wife, amazing mom, and known as "Toot Mom" to those lucky enough to call her grandma.
She was a proud nurse, gaining her nursing degree in 1965, and impacted hundreds of families in the greater Mansfield area. She served in leadership roles for more than 25 years at Woodlawn Nursing Home, Mifflin Care, and Visiting Nurses Association.
Mother to four blessed children who survive her, Kelly Lee Smith (John), Douglas Jeffrey Wiltanger (Tiffany), Wendy Sue Markel (David), and Robert Shane Wiltanger (Kristen). Additionally, Cathy was called "Mom" by Jan Vollmer (Sabine), of Osnabruck, Germany. She is also survived by her high school sweetheart, Robert Wiltanger, who will always remember her as "Tootie" and the girl who lived at the top of the hill in Oil City. She gained the nickname as a child who loved to dress up and tap dance!
In addition to her children, one of her greatest joys was time spent with her 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. They will always remember the way she made everything fun from baking cookies, watching the birds together, creating a special sewing project for them, or cheering them on in their many sports and endeavors.
Her many siblings and in-laws were an important part of her life and she fondly remembers many trips to Pennsylvania and Sanibel Island, Florida to gather together and celebrate family milestones.
While the blessings of family were abundant, she was also a great friend and has many fond memories of card club groups and trips with the "Weebles". She also talked fondly of the many years spent with friends, playing cards and floating in the pool, from their time in Sunbird Retirement Community, in Chandler, AZ.
The family would also like to recognize the loving care Cathy received by the staff at Primrose Assisted Living and Southern Care Hospice.
Preceding her in death, her parents Helen & Charles Moon, her brothers, Chuck Moon (Jean) and Bill Moon, brother-in-law, Norm Ochalek, and grandson, Josiah Smith. She is survived by siblings Rose Ochalek, Dan Moon (Karen), Rita Wukela (Robert) and sister-in-law, Cynthia Moon. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family.
The family will hold calling hours Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 5-7 pm at Snyder Funeral Homes, 2553 Lexington Avenue, Mansfield, OH 44904. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, beginning at 11 AM, at Mansfield Memorial Park, 2507 Park Ave West, Ontario, OH 44906. As a long-term member of St. Peter's Church, the services will be officiated by Father Kishore Kottana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one of Cathy's favorite spots: Ohio Bird Sanctuary, 3774 Orweiler Road, Mansfield, OH 44903.
