Cathy Sue Armstrong was born to Mary and Glenn Armstrong on March 25, 1952. She was second of five children: Jan Armstrong, Cathy, Glenda Armstrong-Huff, Laurie Hash and Sheila Lyons. Cathy passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and under the compassionate care of Grayson County Home Hospice.
Cathy attended Tom Bean Schools and graduated in 1971 as Ms. Tom Bean High School where she also won the Ms. Betty Crocker award.
In 1972 Cathy moved to Ft. Worth where she had her first and only child. In a most remarkable gift of love and generosity and after only a brief introduction, Cathy gave her son up for adoption. This incredible act of strength and unselfishness was an early sign of the woman Cathy was to become. While the memories of that day may have faded somewhat through the years, the song that Cathy carried in her heart that one day she and her son would reunite never faded.
In 1974, Cathy followed her then military husband to Atsuki, Japan where she spent a year working and experiencing the Japanese culture which she enjoyed very much. Upon returning to the States she moved to Denton, Texas where she began her career in the cosmetic industry. There she developed lifelong relationships, both of which continued to serve her well. She then followed a friend and long-time associate to Florida to continue her career. While there, she and two of her sisters weathered hurricane Andrew through its furry and destruction in Dade County. Cathy moved back to Texas in 1998, where she continued her career until she retired and moved to Luella to take care of her mother. Cathy was a successful businesswoman because of what she knew about the cosmetic industry and because she accepted responsibility for her job and could be depended upon when others had given up.
Cathy was a person of faith and was a firm believer in Life Everlasting. She was a member of the Luella First Baptist Church. Her sometimes sarcastic but sincere personality was a part of Cathy and made her who she was. If you ever wanted to know the truth about something, ask Cathy. She would always give you an honest answer from her point of view. Thank goodness for her diplomacy.
Cathy was a beautiful and intelligent woman who gave herself little credit for all the wonderful things she did for others. From the woman at the convenient store to the president of the company, if she believed you needed something, she was there to do whatever she could. As her mother always said, "Cathy is the most generous person I know. She will give you the shirt off her back if she thinks you want it or need it."
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Mary Armstrong, brother Jan Armstrong, and nephew Wayne Armstrong.
She is survived by her three sisters, Glenda Armstrong Huff, Laurie Hash, Sheila Lyons, sister-in-law Barbara Armstrong, brothers-in-law Bob Hash, Jeff Lyons Roger Huff, and several nieces and nephews and their children.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Grayson County Home Hospice.
