Cathy Rebecca Dial, 77, of Zaleski, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, West Virginia. She was born on October 11, 1947, in Athens, Ohio, daughter of the late Arden and Mary Louise (Peyton) Campbell. She was married to the late James Monroe Dial.
Cathy was one of the sweetest ladies you would ever meet. She graduated from Brown-Zaleski High School and enjoyed taking many roles over the years. She spent time volunteering with the PTA, Band Boosters, 4H, and the election board. Cathy loved traveling to new places, especially enjoying her trips to Dollywood and going to all kinds of festivals. When she wasn’t traveling, Cathy had many hobbies: crocheting, embroidery, puzzles, playing card games, and shopping, to name a few. She always had to spend some time watching her soap operas and wrestling, too. Above all, Cathy’s favorite thing was spending time with her family. She would plan family cookouts and get-togethers months in advance just to make sure everyone would be able to come.
Cathy was the most kind, generous, and wonderful mom to her daughters, Carolyn Louise (Lawrence) Dixon Weaver of Zaleski, Jami (Cassy) Dial Erwin of Red House, West Virginia, and the late Cathy Dixon. She also leaves to cherish her memory of her grandchildren, Katerina Weaver and her wife of Huntington, West Virginia and Brandy (Leaha) Duncan of Albany; cousins, Sherie Kisor, Mary McVey, and Rea Peyton Faught and their families; and special friends, Pat Reed, Kathy Cox, and Kate Molihan and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; daughter, Cathy; and grandparents, Jess and Agnes (Wise) Peyton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur. Family and friends may visit from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Laurels of Athens and a huge thank you to the Imogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for their wonderful care of Cathy during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Cathy to Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, P.O. Box 302, McArthur, Ohio 45651, to assist with funeral expenses.
