Cathy Lynn Garber, aged 53, passed away at home in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 29, 2025. Born to Bennie Lee Garber and Carol Ann Canady, Cathy was a valued member of the community and embraced the teachings of the LDS faith.

A dedicated advocate for individuals with disabilities, Cathy was actively involved with ADAPT, a disabilities advocacy group. Her passion for helping others was evident in both her personal and professional life. After graduating from Paola High School in Kansas, she pursued higher education, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology from Emporia State University in Kansas and later, a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Utah. Cathy served as a mental health therapist at Recovery Wellness, where she worked tirelessly to support those struggling with addiction.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Cathy had a deep appreciation for country music, enjoyed the enchanting world of Harry Potter, and held a special fondness for butterflies.

Cathy is survived by her sister Debbie (Garber) Sandstrom, brother Michael Garber, two nephews, one niece, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by both parents and all grandparents.

A memorial service will be held on September 5, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the LDS South Ward Church, located at 2702 S. Main Street, Salt Lake City.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her LDS family and the many caregivers who provided unwavering support throughout the years. Cathy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
