It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cathy Lee Maeger Jones, age 71, of Gadsden, Alabama, who passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. Cathy was born on November 30, 1953, in Marietta, Georgia, to Tommy Lee Maeger and Catherine Clark Walraven. She grew up surrounded by a loving, close-knit family, including her siblings: Vickie Grimes, Thomas Scott Maeger, Michelle Wilson, and Darlene Ethridge.

Cathy married her devoted husband, Samuel Charles Jones, and has a son, Sam Pruitt, who was the light of her life. Cathy was a warm, kind, and compassionate person who will be remembered for her ability to listen, problem-solve, and bring peace to any situation. For many years, she worked as a Human Resources Manager for Morgan Trucking, where her gentle nature and strong problem-solving skills left a lasting impression on all who worked with her.

A faithful Christian, Cathy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved crafting, particularly cross-stitching, and found great happiness in cooking and spending time with her family. Cathy also cherished the outdoors, often finding peace and awe in God's creation while fishing and RVing across the southeast with her family. When she couldn’t be outdoors, she would listen to Gospel music, keeping her connection to her faith close to her heart.

Cathy’s family, friends, and all who knew her will miss her deeply. She had a way of making everyone feel valued and heard, and her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in all those she touched.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 11 AM until 1 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Cathy will be conducted on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 1 PM from the Chapel Thomas Funeral Home with Buster Ezell officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
