Cathy Ann Tuccio Martinez passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026, after a twelve-year battle with cancer and a more recent fight with pneumonia.
Born on September 30, 1948, in Natchez, Mississippi, she grew up in Baton Rouge and married her high school sweetheart, Henry Achille Martinez. She and Achille were very active in Pre-Cana, Marriage Encounter, and the Renew program. Cathy was the first female Eucharistic minister at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Cathy and Achille owned and operated Achille Construction Company, until his untimely death in 2003. After his death, Cathy studied and passed the General Contractors test in order to keep the business going for about six years, before deciding to close the doors.
Cathy loved to live by the water, moving to Maurepas to be close to the river and later to Diamondhead, Mississippi. After a few years, she was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer, had surgery and started chemotherapy treatments. She returned to Baton Rouge in 2023 and eventually found her condo in a gated senior residential community, Village Woods - she loved her condo!
Cathy was preceded in death by her husband Henry Achille; their daughter, Becky Lynn Roberts; her grandson, Joseph “Joey” Achille Campbell; her parents, Catherine and Anthony Tuccio; and her grandparents, Lucille and Curtis McBride.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammie Jean Campbell (Thomas); son, Kevin Achille Martinez and Tressy Marie Amedee; brother, Vincent Tuccio (Mitzy); sister, Linda Rhorbach (Mitch); grandchildren, Kelly Achille Campbell (Mary), Kyle Wayne Campbell, Logan Achille Martinez, and Travis Ray Roberts; great-grandchildren, William Louis Zeringue, Henry Achille Campbell, Parker Marie Campbell, James Lee Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special gratitude to all her caregivers, especially Gloria, Constance, Anita and Kathy, who worked so lovingly to take care of Cathy and her needs, including that of her beloved cat, Cindy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road in Baton Rouge, celebrated by Rev. Trey Nelson. A Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, it was Cathy's request that memorials in her honor be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.
