Cathy Elaine Patashinsky, 71, of Dover, passed away peacefully with her husband, Joseph, daughter, Sarah and son-in-law, Nick, by her side on Saturday, August 10, 2024 in Hennis Care Center at Dover, following complications from a stroke.

Cathy was born on March 17, 1953, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Gerald E. and Ruth J. (Willis) Overholtzer and throughout her life, wore many hats, showcasing her versatile talents and kind heart. She began her career as a background singer for Barry Sadler and also lent her voice to radio ads for WMMI Radio in Columbus. Cathy's passion for music extended beyond her professional endeavors; she found joy in playing the piano and sharing her beautiful voice with those around her.

Cathy's love for learning and connecting with others was evident in her educational pursuits. A graduate of Dover High School, she later undertook sign language classes to communicate with her deaf cousin. Her determination and empathy allowed her to bridge the gap and form meaningful connections within the deaf community, a feat she was immensely proud of.

In addition to her musical and educational pursuits, Cathy displayed a deep commitment to her community. As a licensed Realtor and Property Manager, she approached her work with dedication and integrity. Her involvement as a Board Member of the Tuscarawas County Heritage Home Association speaks volumes about her desire to preserve and enrich the local heritage.

Beyond her professional achievements, Cathy was known for her welcoming personality and ability to make everyone feel at ease in her presence. She was a longtime member of the Dover Alliance Church at Dover and her hobbies included quilting, teaching ceramics, and passionately supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes. These interests reflected her creativity, warmth, and unwavering loyalty to her roots.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph L. Patashinsky of the residence, two daughters, Sarah (Nick) Hunter of Newark and Lori (Brian) Merritt of Le Raysville, Pennsylvania; her step-son, Robert (Ida) Patashinsky of Fairbury, Nebraska; five grandchildren, James, Ashley, Robert Jr., Zach and Alexandria; her special cousin, Debra Willis Tackett of Portsmouth; her best friends, Marty and Don Roberts of Hilliard and numerous cousins.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 5 to 6:30 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where a funeral service will begin at 6:30 PM with Pastor Bruce Sexton officiating. A graveside service and burial will be on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 11:30 AM in St. Joseph Cemetery at Lockbourne, Ohio.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Dover Alliance Church, 228 East Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
