Causey Esco Gram

Dr. Causey Esco Gram, III... also known to friends as "Bro. Causey", was born on March 21, 1948, in New Orleans, LA. He passed away on January 13, 2026, in Dallas, TX, at the age of 77.

Early Life and Education: Causey spent his very early life in Chicago, IL, but grew up in New Orleans, LA, where he attended Benjamin Franklin High School. He went on to earn a BA from LSU, a JD from LSU Law School, and an MARE from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Military Service: Causey served as a Captain in the US Army, and was honorably discharged after injuring his knee badly in night maneuvers at Ft. Benning. He then served in the US Army Reserves. He attributed much of his leadership ability to the US Army Officer Basic Course.

Career and Achievements: Causey had a distinguished career as an attorney landman in various Houston oil companies, a middle school teacher/coach (allowing him to take care of his previous wife, Sue, during her final illness), a Southern Baptist church staff member, and Pastor. He served five churches. He was an original member of the LSU Rugby Club.

Family: Causey is survived by his loving bride, Reba; son, John and his wife Kristin; granddaughters, Melody and Kerys; long-time friend, Richard Bundy; friend and physical therapist, Christi Barnes; a host of church friends, and Dallas County Pastors. He is preceded in death by his parents, Causey Esco Gram, Jr., and Martha Reynolds; and his previous wife, Sue Gram.

Personal Qualities and Interests: Causey had a passion for Jesus, team jerseys and caps, football, rugby, military veterans, multiple music genres, and often spent his time watching his favorite TV sitcoms and sports.

Legacy: Causey's faith touched everyone who knew him. His friends and family remember him as an extroverted joke teller. He shared the Gram sense of humor with his son, John.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, TX. Funeral service will be held at Trinity Life Church in Garland, TX on January 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Sunnyvale.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, the Diabetes Association of America, or the Parkinson Voice Project in Causey's honor.
