Mr. Compton was born on March 7, 1945, in Jennings to Robert Henry Compton and Mary Adele Brown Compton. He graduated from Hathaway High School in 1963 and then attended Texas A&M where he graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. He has lived in the community all his life and worked hard for his family as a farmer. He served on the Jeff Davis Parish Drainage Board for many years. He loved motors, planes, and automobiles and enjoyed tinkering around with old cars and tractors. He was also fascinated with remote control big toys. He kept his children entertained with something fun to ride and always drive while growing up. The outdoors was a favorite place for him to spend his time, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. Although he was a jokester and prankster, he was known for helping others with whatever they needed.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Paula (Peter) Compton Charles Caruso of Covington, Kathryn Compton (Andre) Labbe' of New Orleans; son, Dwayne (Holly) Compton of Hathaway; grandchildren, Victoria (Chase) Joubert, Zachary Charles, Connor Charles, William Charles, Caitlyn (Dylan) Compton Lejeune, Mallory Compton, Megan Labbe', Lauren Labbe' and Noah Labbe'; great grandchild, Beau Joubert and one on the way; his sister, Genevieve (Noel) Nash of Keithville and his brother, Robert (Judy) Compton of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and the mother of their children, Kathleen Habetz Compton.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all his caregivers, LAMM Hospice, Jeff Davis MD Home Care, Dr. Griffith and his staff.
