Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM for Ms. Ella Mae Richard,102, who passed away peacefully at her home in Evangeline, LA surrounded by her three supportive sons, on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Visitation will be held at Matthews Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visiting hours will resume on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 8:00 AM until her service at 10:00 AM in the Matthews Funeral Home Parlor.

Reverend Nathan Comeaux will be officiating her service and burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Jennings, LA.

Ms. Ella Mae Richard, a beloved resident of Evangeline, LA, was born in Kaplan, LA on January 21, 1924. Her life was filled with cherished memories and a warm heart. Ella Mae had a passion for watching Wheel of Fortune, playing solitaire, crossword puzzles, and ensuring that anyone who stopped by her home would be treated to a delicious meal. Her dedication to her community was evident in her 27-year tenure at the Jennings Ochsner American Legion Hospital. Afterwards, she was teaching the youth about the American Flag through the American Legion. Before age 96, she continued to volunteer her time with the Pink Ladies/Blue Angels.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and support. She is survived by her one brother, Dennis Gallet, of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by her three sons, Alvin Ray Richard, Lennard J. Richard, and Raland J. Richard (Kathy). Her family is blessed with a host of 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Ella Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Dorcelie Gallet and Marguerite Trahan Gallet of Maurice. Her late husband, Alvin "Doc" Richard of Evangeline, LA. Her daughter, Elaine R. Faul of Huffman, TX; one brother, Doris "Tee" Gallet of Indianapolis, IN, and three sisters, Anna "Lou" Baudoin of Maurice, Mary "Mable" Landry of Elton, and Doris Ann "Margaret" Dutton of Lafayette.

The pallbearers for Ella Mae's funeral will be Kirk Richard, Chad Richard, Bobby Richard, Dusty Faul, Lonnie Faul, and Riley Richard. Honorary pallbearers will be Devon Richard and Atlas Richard.
