Cecil "Jim" James Moore, born September 27, 1942, in Belington, W.V., to the late Lloyd and Leora (Shahan) Moore. He passed on to be with His Lord and Savior on a beautiful Sunday morning, July 13, 2025. He left this world in the comfort of his home with his wife, Patricia A. Moore (McPherson), one month and day before their 64th Anniversary. She was there with him, a perfect union now divided by death, just as they had promised would be the only reason to part. He leaves behind his three children, Sheila Moore, James Randal Moore, Scott Eric Moore, and his beloved granddaughter, Erica Ann Moore. He was predeceased also by his sisters, Lynette Moore and Sharon Moore. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
He grew up in Dellslow, W.V., right outside of Morganton, in an area that the locals called Bed Bug Holler. He attended Saberton Junior High School, and Morgantown High School Freshman year where he was a very busy caddy at Lakeview Golf & Country Club, and a burgeoning basketball star, until he moved to Windham, Ohio, for his sophomore year and became an even better basketball player, a football player, and a track standout, and where he met the love of his life, Patti. He was also a fashion trendsetter when he came to town when other students were asking him to peg their pants.
He wasted no time making forever friends, not only at his high school, but all around the Windham area, the place that he would end up calling home for the rest of his days.
He started work at Howard Johnsons at the turnpike and then took a job at Alcoa in Cleveland. At Alcoa is where he soon began his love of fairness and democracy and debating important labor issues. He was voted in as the recording secretary for the UAW Local 1050, then eventually became the President of Local 1050. He was outstanding at doing what he loved there and was promoted to the position of International Representative of the UAW, where began more of the bargaining and arbitration parts of his career. Jim's new job is when he began a life of travel in the US, and many opportunities for meeting local and national politicians and legislators.
While working at his day job, he also was a coach for his sons - baseball and basketball – and his daughter for track, and then eventually his granddaughter with her basketball. While working his day job he also was on Windham Village Council and was the Mayor of Windham Village. While working his day job he also was a member of the Windham School Board and became President of the Windham School Board.
Also, while working his day job he joined his wife, Patti, in buying and selling, and renovating residential and commercial properties. So many that I think we've lost count. Safely over 30-something.
Also, while working in his day job, he was part of Patti's Restaurant, his wife's successful and treasured business in Windham.
He and Patti created not only a great marriage and three children that he loved so much, but they were business partners and visionaries. They knew what they each wanted in life at their graduation and made it all come true shortly thereafter, together.
He never met a political discussion he didn't like. He was a researcher of everything: Health, workouts, politics, world events, the Bible, and on and on.
He was humble and approachable. He loved his life and all that it brought to him. And then he loved God. Saved and baptized, he was very assured of his heavenly home to be and would profess it without hesitation.
His last years were full of doctor visits and healthcare issues and routines, with his wife and kids and granddaughter always there. He never once complained. Not one time. He took the hard times like the good times; it was his life, and he loved it.
