Steve E. Simon, 68, of Southington, OH, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025. He was born in Cleveland, OH on August 7, 1956, to the late Ernest and Joan (nee Yankowski) Simon.

He retired after 24 dedicated years at Johnsonite in Chagrin Falls, OH, where Steve was known for his strong work ethic, which he also gave to the Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local #507. Outside of work, Steve found joy in rural life, his hobby farm, antique tractors, hunting, and riding his Harley. Whether in the fields, woods, or the open road, Steve felt most at home with nature and machinery. He will always be remembered for his loyalty and the simply, steady way he showed up for those he loved.

Steve will be forever missed by his loving wife, Nancy (nee Lapoczka) Simon, who was blessed to share over 35 years of marriage; stepson, Levi (Amanda) Daughtry; sister, Cheryn Nakoff; sisters-in-law, Barb (Bill) Richardson, Mary Ellen (Kevin) Iarussi, and Kim Lapoczka; brother-in-law, Billy Lapoczka; 16 nieces and nephews, 27 great nieces and nephews, 6 great great nieces and nephews, as well as many beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Corky Lapoczka and Steve Lapoczka.

Please join the family for a memorial visitation Wednesday, July 16, 2025, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. A memorial service will begin at the funeral home at 8:00 p.m.

Steve, ever the nature-loving man, asked that flowers not be sent, because he preferred them to stay in the fields where they belonged. Instead, he asked that great memories of him be written down to be shared, ensuring his love and memory live on.
