Cecil Thomas “Tommy” Johnson, 73, of Warwick, GA., died Sunday, May 4, 2025 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.at Mathews Funeral Home, with Minister Tim Estes officiating. Burial will follow at Thundering Springs Cemetery.

Tommy was born in Washington, GA to the late Cecil and Kathryn Johnson. He graduated from Warren County High School, where he helped lead his football team to three state championships during his four years. As a linebacker wearing #61, his passion for sports carried through his life. He was avid fan of NASCAR, the Atlanta Braves, and most notably the Georgia Bulldogs.

He will be remembered as the most loving, devoted, and caring husband. Tommy was always positive and never without a smile. He had a gift for connecting with people, never met a stranger, and treated everyone as a close friend. Tommy was a member of Loyal Order of Moose #1285 as well as the United Auto Workers. He loved his hometown of Camak and was a longtime member of Camak Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Leona and Jerry Felix, Steward Johnson and Tammy and Don Holsonback.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years Peggy Johnson, his daughters, Kristin Johnson Butler (Brent) and Amanda Dawn Eubanks (Chris), his grandchildren, Haley Butler, Kinady Butler, Lindsey Butler, Makenzie Lacey, Mikayla Duke (Tucker) and Gavin Lacey, his sisters, Linda Sims (Herschel) and Susan Reese (Johnny), sister in law Anne Johnson, and in-laws Carl and Kandy Knight, and Tracy Foster.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

Those desiring may make donations to Tunnels to Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Blvd. Staten Island, NY 10306 or the Camak Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 91 Camak, GA 30807.

The family will be at the residence of Amanda and Chris Eubanks, 168 Larkspur Drive Albany, GA 31721.
