Cecil Luke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lescher Millsap Funeral Service, LLC - Muskogee on Dec. 13, 2025.
Cecil Luke of Muskogee Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Friday December 12, 2025 at the age of 89. He was born August 26, 1936 to Jess and Nettie (Kellogg) Luke near Checotah, OK. He married his one and only love, Mildred Mickels, in 1956 and had three sons: Rick, Tom and Danny.
As one of eight children growing up on the ranches and cotton fields of depression era Oklahoma, Cecil learned the importance of hard work and education at a very young age. In his early years he travelled and lived in Texas, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho before settling in Muskogee. He worked in the fields and ranches of Oklahoma and Texas before following the dust-bowl migration to Bakersfield, California. However, he couldn't stay away from his beloved Mildred and returned to Oklahoma to get married before returning to the more lucrative labor markets in California and followed pipeline work through the Pacific Northwest. After several years of seeing the West Coast they returned to Muskogee where Cecil became a Firefighter and Truck Driver while raising three sons.
Cecil's greatest enjoyment was being a father and a grandfather. He enjoyed teaching his boys and grandchildren the love of competition of golf, baseball, pool and numerous other sports.
Cecil was a passionate golfer and probably played golf with most of the golfers in Muskogee over a 60 year period. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mildred; 3 sisters Christine Tankersley, Lorene King and Ida Mae Luke; 3 brothers Carl, Raymond and Roy.
He is survived by his sons Rick Luke (Jody), Tom Luke (Stacey) and Danny Luke (Christy); grandsons Alex, Adam, Andy, and Parker; granddaughters Autumn, Ashley, Alyssa, Abby, Madeline, Amanda, and Emma as well as numerous great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild; and beloved sister Irene Singer.
Cecil will be missed by family and friends. May his memory be a blessing to those who loved him.
