Benson, NC: With a very heavy heart, we announce the passing of Cecil Ray Massengill, a cherished husband, loving father, devoted grandfather, and genuine friend to many. Cecil left us peacefully on July 5, 2024. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Hodges Chapel Church Cemetery, Benson, NC.
Mr. Massengill was born on May 15, 1945 in Harnett County, NC to the late Alton and Naomi Sorrell Massengill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eric Massengill. Mr. Massengill was a retired Insurance Agent. He was the myth, the man, and the legend. Cecil was more than just a partner and father; he was a pillar of strength, resilience, and wisdom to all who knew him. His wit and charm lit up every room he entered, leaving behind memories that will forever remain in our hearts. Beyond his family and friends, Cecil was known for his passion for poker, where his strategic mind and keen sense of humor always made the game lively and memorable. Rest in peace, Dear Cecil. Your magic will continue to inspire us always.
Surviving includes his wife of 21 years, Deborah Massengill; children, Rachel Massengill, Brian Weaver and Michea, and Taylor Weaver and wife, Alyssa; grandchildren, Tori Massengill, Gabriel Massengill, and Elliot Weaver; sister, Sue Morris; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM-1:45PM-on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC.
The family would like to thank each person who reached out and sent prayers and messages during his sickness that enabled him to feel so loved and put Hope in his heart.
You were all so special to him and therefore so very special to us.
