Cecil S. Prado, a resident of Austin, TX passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the age of 93.

Cecil was born in Round Rock, TX but lived the majority of his life in Lubbock, TX. He was married to Dora Perez Prado, his wife of 70 years, who passed away in 2020. Throughout his life, he worked primarily as a truck driver and later started his own tile business utilizing his skill and talent laying terrazzo tile for companies and clients. His skill provided him with the opportunity to work in numerous cities laying tile throughout West Texas. There was nothing he couldn't fix or build and he took pride in everything he did.

Cecil became a devout Christian later in life and was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Lubbock, serving the church by becoming a Guadalupano, playing guitar at mass and working alongside fellow parishioners at church festivals. When he and Dora moved to Austin, he became a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. He lived the latter part of his life as a strong believer in God and with devout faith.

Cecil was active, outgoing and engaging. He loved to play pool, bowl, golf and fish. He was a member of the senior center in Austin and San Antonio and frequently participated in pool tournaments, usually winning most of his games. He belonged to a bowling league in Lubbock and Austin and was always proud of his high scores. He was an avid Texas Rangers fan and was the happiest during baseball season.

Cecil is preceded in death by his father Narciso Prado and his mother Dolores Samudio Prado, his three brothers and five sisters, his wife Dora and his daughter, Irene Prado Escobedo. He is survived by his children, Rachel Cruz (Carlos) of San Antonio, Raul Prado (Lucy) of San Antonio, Irma Prado, Oscar Prado and Diana Aguilar (Juan) of Austin. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, a great, great granddaughter and many cousins, nieces and nephews all who loved him dearly.

Funeral services are scheduled for April 10, 2026, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Road, Austin, TX 78749. A rosary service will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. The service will be live-streamed via the provided link https://stcatherine-austin.org/live. The burial ceremony will be held immediately following mass at Onion Creek Memorial Park, 11610 Chapel Lane, Austin, TX 78748.
