Cecil Alvin Rice

Cecil Alvin Rice, born February 26, 1939, left this world for a better place December 9, 2025. He will be sorely missed by so many. He was a hard worker, friend, man of his word, and many things to those that knew him. Cecil was a fun, loving man and loved his family beyond words. He spent 44 years working for Burlington and loved his work and many co-workers. Cecil loved working in his garden and grew large vegetables. He was very talented with his hands.

Cecil leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Dotty M. Rice; a daughter, Teresa R. Matthews (David); son, Randall A. Rice (Lynn); granddaughters, Dana M. Stortz (Lance), Hannah R. Barber (Cameron), and grandson, Zachary R. Rice; 3 great grandsons, Asher Barber, Aiden Stortz, and Oliver Stortz; brother, Thomas Rice; and he also leaves behind many nieces and nephews to remember him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Dale Rice. In addition to his parents Arthur and Lucy Rice, he was preceded in death by sisters, Bertha Elliott, Emma Rice, Willie Lee Glasscock, Rebecca Honeycutt, Dorothy Epps, and Helen Newton; and brothers, William Rice and Douglas "Dee" Rice.

Cecil and daughter Susan Rice will be laid to rest at Gravel Hill Baptist Church at a later date.
