Cecil Ray Runyons

Cecil Ray Runyons, 72, husband of Rosemarie Abner Runyons, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Stanton Nursing Center surrounded by his family. He was born July 16, 1952 in Williamson, WV to the late William and Joann Slone Runyons. Survivors include, wife, Rosemarie Runyons; sisters, Anita (Dale) Allen and Evelyn (Charles) Faulkner; brother, Lee (Lois) Runyons. He was preceded in death by his late wife Delilah Hall Runyons; four brothers, John Runyons, Raymond Runyons, Ronnie Runyons, and William Runyons Jr. Cecil spent 17 years of his early work life as a proud coal miner employed by Martin County Coal Corpration, working 12 years underground, and 5 years as a mining instructor. He left coal mining to pursue his college degree, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1992. He was employed at Sanders Brown Center on Aging at the University of Kentucky for 20 years, assisting in Alzeheimer's research. As a very intelligent and humble man, he was the inventor of a patented product called Painter's Halo. Cecil became an author, along with his brother, Lee, of biblical reference entitled A Time, Times, and Half a Time. Services Saturday, August 31, 2024, 1:00 PM Wells Funeral Home by Bro. Brad Epperson. Visitation Saturday 11:00AM-1:00PM at the funeral home. Burial in Resthaven Cemetery with his nephews serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the dedicated employees of the Stanton Nursing and Rehab Center who gave him loving care during his illness.
