Dateline: Boerne, Texas
Mr. Cecil "Wayne" Sellars was born in Utopia, Texas to Andrew Lee Sellars and Thelma Jewel Braddock on August 18th, 1933. He was called to be with the Lord May 1st, 2023 at 5:41am. He is preceded in death by six siblings. Wayne was married to the love of his life, Bonnie Ann Schuldt on September 26th, 1976, where they resided in Boerne, Texas for over 45 years. Their children are Janet Lynn Sellars, Rhonda Lou Deskin (deceased), Mona Sellars, Roberta Charlene Brayton (Mike), Rosalind Ann Fuhrken (Scott). Grandkids Kimberly Sellars, Mark Sellars, Lisa Marie Araujo, Jason Ray Mozisek, Justin Michael Brayton, Carrie Nicole Evans, Justin Sellars, Joshua Wayne Fuhrken, Jared Allen Fuhrken, Jacob Charles Fuhrken, and Emilee Ann Marie Fuhrken and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In 1950, Wayne joined the US Navy during the Korean War. He began his career in 1960, after he was discharged from the service, with Guido Construction where he worked for 40 plus years as a crane operator. Some of the buildings he is known to be part of is the Audie Murphey VA Hospital, USAA Headquarters, Wonderland Mall, and Methodist Plaza. His expertise and knowledge helped build a San Antonio icon known as the Hemisphere Tower.
Wayne was known for the love he showed his family, especially the love for his grandkids. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for them. There wasn't anything he could not fix and he was always willing to help anyone at any time.
In his younger years he enjoyed working on vehicles, collecting tools, and leaving us a legacy that hard work came easy to him. Wayne could do anything. He loved being out on the water with his boat, teaching his loved ones how to ski, spending time with family, friends, and enjoyed many Lonestar Longnecks along the way.
In his retired years, his love grew to new heights, spending more time with his wife. He enjoyed being home with her and enjoyed his man cave with his black and white movies, daily. He had a special bond with his baby of the bunch and enjoyed his time spent with her and the kids. He looked forward to time with his family and there wasn't anything that he wouldn't drop to be by their side.
You were never a stranger if you had a conversation with Wayne and he will be dearly missed by so many.
A visitation will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 from 9 am to 11 am with a funeral service to be held at 11 am in the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel. A burial will follow in the Sons of Hermann Cemetery where Wayne will be honored with military honors.
