Cecilia A. Dubuque
11/1/1930 11/29/2024
Cecilia A. (Paquin) Dubuque, 94, of Fountain Valley, CA, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024.
Cecilia (Cel) was born on November 1, 1930, to Henry and Emma (Hance) Paquin in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. On August 28, 1954, she married Richard (Dick) Dubuque of Crookston, MN. In 1957, they relocated to California, and then in 1965, they settled their family in Fountain Valley. Cecilia remained in her home of 59 years up until her passing.
When she married, Cel was an elementary school teacher, but after moving to California, she became a stay-at-home mom. Once her children graduated, she worked in real estate for 12 years. When Richard decided to bring his accounting business back to their home, Cel became his assistant until his passing. Also, she played a huge role in raising her three grandsons during that time.
Cel's and Dick's strong Catholic faith brought them to Holy Spirit Catholic Church when it was formed. The choir at Holy Spirit became a source of joy for Cel. She had always loved singing, so she joined the choir and remained a faithful member for over 30 years. She was the longest-standing member and was referred to by the choir as a loving friend and mentor to all. She was their hospitality representative and enjoyed making choir members' birthdays special with handmade cards and treats. She lovingly welcomed new choir members into the group with open arms and was responsible for showing them the ropes.
Cel's loves included gardening, scrabble, solving daily crossword puzzles, exercising, lunches after church with the ladies, and, most importantly, her family. A few weeks before her death, she was overjoyed to meet her twin great-granddaughters. Cel never hesitated to welcome any of her children's friends into her home and became a second mom to many of them.
Cel is survived by her children Patti (Mike) Williams, Jim (Tina) Dubuque, and Tom (Tanya) Dubuque. Grandchildren Shannon Williams, Dan Williams, Kyle (Lindsey) Dubuque, Trent Dubuque, and Matthew Dubuque. Great-Grandchildren Ashley, Zach, Chloe, Kaity, Jacob, Rylee, Amelia, Autumn, Parker, Savannah, and Addison. One sister, Marie Nelson of Minnesota, also survives her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, daughter Sharon, granddaughter Jamie West, sister Sylvia Steinert, brother James Paquin, and sister Monica Morrison of Minnesota.
Cel's passing has left an enormous hole in her family and church community. It is unexplainable how much she will be missed.
Services will be held at Noon on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fountain Valley, California.
