Cecilia Martinez Farley, born on November 2, 1936, was a devoted caregiver, a loving family member, and a cherished friend whose warmth and compassion left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She passed away on August 17, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication that will always be remembered.
Cecilia was often seen as the heart of her family, having dedicated her life to ensuring the well-being of her loved ones. As the principal caretaker for her parents, Jesus and Catreda Martinez, her brother Phil, and her beloved husband John V. Farley, she demonstrated unwavering strength and devotion. Nothing brought her greater joy than knowing her family was safe, well-fed, and comfortable in their home.
Her educational journey culminated in her graduation from Grants High School, Class of 1958, where she undoubtedly laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to community and family. Cecilia's interests were varied and vibrant; her hobbies included quilting—where she proudly earned numerous awards at state fairs—flower gardening, cooking, and baking. She was also an avid family historian, fostering connections and preserving the richness of her family's heritage.
Cecilia was a true lover of life and family, fondly reminiscing about the many moments spent with her loved ones. Whether it was pampering her beloved pets, enjoying family picnics under the sun, or engaging in family deer hunting outings, her spirit radiated joy and enthusiasm. Friends and family were fortunate to bask in her generous heart and infectious laughter, making every gathering a treasured memory.
She is survived by her dear sister, Lydia Cook, her brother, John Martinez, and numerous nephews and nieces who carry forward her spirit of kindness and care. Cecilia now joins her beloved husband John V. Farley, as well as her parents and brothers—Jerry Jaramillo, Joe R. Jaramillo, Desiderio Jaramillo, and Phil Martinez—who have passed before her.
As we gather to remember her life, we take comfort in knowing that our angel has gotten her well-earned wings. We celebrate the beauty that Cecilia brought into our lives and the endless love shared in her family. A memorial service will be held on September 4, 2025, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grants, New Mexico, followed by a gathering at the Route 66 Vintage Museum & Double Six Gallery, where stories of her life and legacy will undoubtedly fill the air with laughter and fond nostalgia.
Cecilia Martinez Farley's memory will forever resonate in our hearts, a testament to a life dedicated to family, love, and unwavering support. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire us all. Our comfort in knowing that our angel has gotten her well-earned wings.
