Cecilia Quintanilla, a beloved figure in the Lubbock community, was called home on December 4, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on June 13, 1938, in Lubbock, to Gumecindo & Ramona Rivera, she spent her entire life in this vibrant city, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
For years, Cecilia worked as a presser for Holders Cleaners, where her dedication and commitment were evident in everything she did. She approached her career with the same warmth and diligence that characterized her interactions with those around her. Cecilia had a loving personality who never met a stranger; her door was always open to those in need. Beyond the workplace, she embraced life with joy and passion, famously known as the Mamba Queen of Lubbock for her love of dancing.
Cecilia's interests extended beyond her career. She delighted in bowling, enjoyed the thrill of bingo, and found immense joy in caring for her grandchildren. Spending time with family brought her immense happiness and fulfillment, solidifying her role as the heart of her family.
She is survived by four sons and their wives: Roy and Dalia Rivera, Lionel Ramirez, Ronald and Donna Ramirez, and Pedro Ramirez, all from Lubbock. She also leaves behind two daughters, Lori Ramirez and Tammy Garcia with her husband Greg, along with two brothers, Richard Rivera and Antonio Rivera with his wife Helen. Her sisters, Francis Guzman and Dolores Cantu with her husband Dionicio, remember her fondly. Cecilia treasured her family deeply, proudly sharing her legacy of love with thirty grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren, and nineteen great-great-grandchildren.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband, Felipe Quintanilla, who she loved dearly. She was also preceded by two sons, Victor Quintanilla and Marllo Quintanilla, and a grandson, Jeffrey Guerrero. Her siblings, Janie Guerra, Dora Rivera, Manuel "Duke" Rivera, Benito Rivera, Chayo Rivera, Gilbert Rivera, and Robert Rivera, welcomed her into eternal peace.
Cecilia’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and compassionate service to others. As we gather to celebrate her life, we will remember her infectious spirit and the countless lives she touched along her journey. The visitation will be held on December 9, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors followed by a rosary at 7:00 PM. A celebration of life will take place Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Emmanuel Worship Center with Ovidio Martinez officiating.
