Cecilia M.Senesac of rural Lafayette, age 88, passed peacefully from this life on July 3, 2025. She was born on September 27, 1936 to Frank and Mildred (Hatke) Steiner in their farmhouse in Fowler, Indiana. She graduated as valedictorian from Pine Township School in 1954, and from Indiana Business College where she studied clerical/secretarial work and was then employed by Alcoa.
On June 14, 1958, Cecilia and Robert (Bob) Senesac were married at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Barrydale, Indiana. They were members of The Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Lafayette. She and her husband were involved in leadership in Worldwide Marriage Encounter from 1976 to 1985. They were instrumental in the reinstitution of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in 1997 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Chapel and served as coordinators for 12 years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob, on June 1, 2009. Also preceding in death were her parents, Frank and Mildred, brothers Lou, Bud, Leo, Don and Ed Steiner, sisters Pauline Romanowski, Ruth Long and an infant brother.
Surviving are sons, Gene (Heidi) Senesac of Olathe, Kansas; Pat Senesac, Lafayette; daughters Denise (Ken) Gurrentz, Delray Beach, Florida, Julie (Dave) Slear of Highland Park, Texas. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Surviving sisters are Dorothy Khatter, West Lafayette; Marge Kirk, Lafayette; Doris Manlief (Jim), Lafayette and brother Ken Steiner (Irene), Ventura, California.
The Rosary will be held at 9:45 am with visitation to follow at the Cathedral of St Mary of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, July 11th from 10:15 am to 11:15 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Cathedral on Friday, July 11th at 11:15 with Father Joshua Janko celebrating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fowler, Indiana. The Family requests memorial contributions to The Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception. You may sign the guest book and leave memories and pictures at hahngroeberfuneralhome.com.
