On the morning of Tuesday, January 23rd, Cecilio Hernandez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at his home in Anthony, NM, at the age of 91.
Mr. Hernandez was born in San Juan de la Veracruz – in Satevó, Chihuahua. He worked in Dairy Labor most of his life until he finally retired at 70. He was married to his wife 'Elpidia' for 63 years. Cecilio was known for always smiling, listening to music, and attending church for Spanish mass on many early Sunday mornings. He often enjoyed his ice cream after dinner, and his coffee to start and end his days. He wore a dress shirt and slacks no matter how hot it got in the summers and he was always the first in the car when it came to traveling. He enjoyed many road trips with his daughter Anabel, son-in-law Lee, and their two kids.
Mr. Hernandez is survived by his wife Elpidia Hernandez, his 6 sons, and 1 daughter. This includes Frank Hernandez and his wife, Lee Ann Hernandez; Sergio Hernandez and his wife, Cecilia Hernandez; Cecilio Hernandez Jr; Anabel Vela and her husband, Lee Vela; Jorge Hernandez, Raul Hernandez, and Efrain Hernandez. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, Manny Hernandez, Cassandra Muñoz, Derek Ryan Hernandez, Michael Padilla, Taylor Ross Hernandez, Brianna Sime, Christian Hernandez, Jacqueline Vela, Sandrine Hernandez, Carolina Hernandez, Jonathan Vela, Bianca Hernandez, Jose Luis Hernandez, and deceased Samuel Hernandez. He leaves behind 4 great-grandchildren: Rodrigo Hernandez, Marisa Padilla, Rowan Hernandez, and Renan Hernandez.
We will be celebrating his long and prosperous life beginning with visitation at 9:00 am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Saturday, Jan. 27th. The rosary will begin at 9:30 and mass at 10:00 am with the burial to follow.
