Felipe Hernandez

Felipe nació en Cienfuegos, Cuba "La ciudad mas linda de Cuba" como el decía cada vez que hablaba de su querido pueblo. En su juventud en Cuba Felipe fue miembro de muchos grupos católicos y organizaciones de caridad con la iglesia católica. El estudio contabilidad y finanzas en la Escuela de Comercios. En 1962, dado los cambios en Cuba, Felipe dejo su casa y salió rumbo a Miami a empezar una nueva vida. El pasó muchas dificultades ya que estaba solo y sin ninguna familia aquí. Trabajó mucho, en momentos hasta trabajando en tres trabajos al mismo tiempo. No le fue fácil pero el salió adelante y muy orgulloso de nunca ni si quiera haber recibido dinero de Unemployment. En 1967, el conoció a su esposa, Marta y comenzaron lo que se convertiría en una historia de amor que transcurriría varias décadas. Se casaron el primero de diciembre de 1967 en la iglesia de Corpus Cristi donde el era un miembro activo de la Iglesia. Juntos formaron una familia y fueron bendecidos con hijos, nietos y hasta bisnietos. Para Felipe su familia era su gran orgullo y nada lo hacia mas feliz que estar rodeados de ellos. Felipe trabajo por mas de 35 en Coulter Diagnostics. El logro escalar los rangos gracias a su ética de trabajo y dedicación. El era fanático de los Marlin's e iba a los juegos hasta que se le dificultara ir dado sus problemas de salud. A Felipe le gustaba leer, viajar, la musica clásica y aprender cosas nuevas. A el le gustaba servir y trataba de siempre ayudar donde el pudiera. Felipe era miembro de los Caballeros de Colon y un Católico muy devoto. El formaba parte del consejo de Marcelino Champagnat donde ocupo muchos cargos incluyendo el de Gran Caballero. El fue miembro de la parroquia de Santa Rosa de Lima hasta mudarse a Hialeah al final de los años 80 cuando se incorporo a La Inmaculada Concepcion donde servio como Usher y Ministro Eucaristico. El fue un hombre con Gran fe, Gran capacidad de Amar y Gran honor. El vivió una vida muy correcta y ejemplar. Los que tuvimos la dicha de conocerlo y de ser amados por el lo extrañaremos mucho. En nuestros corazones sabemos que el esta en el cielo abrasándonos desde allá. En lugar de flores, porfavor haga una donación al Hospital de Niños St. Jude’s en su nombre. Felipe was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, "the most beautiful city in Cuba", as he would very proudly state whenever referring to his hometown. As a young man in Cuba he was involved in youth groups and charitable organizations all through the Catholic Church. He studied business and accounting at "La Escuela de Comercios". In 1962, due to the changes in Cuba, Felipe left his home and ventured out to Miami on his own to start a new life. He went through many difficulties as a young man on his own with no family here. He worked very hard, at times holding three jobs at once and was very proud of the fact that he never so much as collected unemployment benefits! In 1967, he met his wife, Marta and they began what would be a beautiful love story that would span many decades. They married on December first 1967 at Corpus Christi Church, where he was an active parishioner. Together they created a family and were blessed with children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. Felipe's family was his pride and joy and nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by them. Felipe worked for more than 35 years at Coulter Diagnostics, working his way up due to his incredible work ethic. He was a Marlin's fan and had season tickets until it became too difficult to attend the games due to his failing health. He enjoyed reading, traveling, classical music and learning about new things. He had a strong calling to serve no matter in what capacity when needed. Felipe was a devout Catholic and member of The Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Marcelino Champagnat Council where he held many official titles and also served as the Grand Knight. He was a member of St Rose of Lima Parish and upon relocating to Hialeah in the late 1980's became a member at Immaculate Conception Church, where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was a man of Great faith, Great love and Great Honor. He was an exceptional human being who lived a very righteous life. He will be missed by those who were blessed to know him and be loved by him. We know in our hearts that he is in Heaven embracing us from above.
