A Memorial Service for William "Bill" and Celeste Cain will take place on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad at 11:00 am, with a visitation an hour prior. The night before, there will also be a visitation at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Warroad.
Celeste Caroline Cain was born February 17, 1942 in Portland, OR to Harold and Alice Nelson.
She received her high school diploma from the Crookston School of Agriculture in 1960. After high school she went to the Crookston School of Practical Nursing at Bethesda Hospital and received her LPN degree.
Celeste married William Cain in Ada, MN on September 15, 1962. They had two children, Heidi and Scott.
Celeste dedicated her life to nursing, starting at the Ada Hospital in Ada, MN. She also worked at Sheltering Oaks nursing home in Roseau, MN, the Warroad Clinic in Warroad, MN, and at the Roseau Hospital/LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau. She served 55 years in the nursing field. Celeste loved the community of Warroad and Roseau County so very much and was so pleased to be able to spend her life helping the people here any way she could.
Celeste was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Warroad. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends – especially at the lake cabin on Maple Lake.
She is survived by her husband William of Warroad; children Heidi (Scott) Niemann and Scott Cain also of Warroad; grandchildren Dylan, Cammi and Keegan Cain; eleven nieces and nephews; best friend of over 60 years Millie Murray and her beloved dachshunds, Oscar and Max. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Curtis.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice staff and to all the nurses she worked with and loved over her many years of service to the medical community.
