Celeste P. Godbout

Saco

Celeste P. Godbout, 57, of Saco, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at MaineHealth - Maine Medical Center, Biddeford.

Celeste was born in Framingham, Massachusetts on April 16, 1968, a daughter of Guy and Kathy (O'Brien) Garon. She received her elementary education in the Exeter New Hampshire school system, attended Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, and Graduated from Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco, California, class of 1986. She went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in 1990 from University of New Hampshire.

Known for being independent and free spirited, Celeste moved to Altamonte Springs, Florida where she worked for seven years with Matthew Battery Assemblers, Inc. In 1999 she met the love of her life, William "Bill" Godbout, and though their courtship initially started off as a long-distance relationship, Celeste eventually moved to Maine to be closer to Bill and his son Travis. Celeste and Bill were married on July 6, 2002.

Celeste was employed with UNUM for 21 years as Lead Disability Specialist.

Celeste will always be remembered for her infectious smile, her amazing laugh, and for her ability to brighten up any party or gathering just by walking into the room. Her warm, outgoing personality caused people to gravitate to her, and she made friends everywhere she went.

Celeste had many passions and interests, with going to the beach at the top of her list. She loved to go "frolicking" in the ocean, and would always call out to her friends to join her. She was an amazing cook, and was a faithful Food Network follower and watcher. Celeste attended numerous concerts over the years, and especially enjoyed going to see Pearl Jam …. a band she saw on stage over a dozen times. Celeste and Bill had the good fortune of traveling throughout the US and overseas. One of their most memorable trips was their vacation in Paris. Celeste also had a love for birds and bird watching, and would get excited every time she would see a cardinal.

For all the things Celeste valued and considered precious, there was nothing she cherished more than the time she spent with her husband Bill, with his son Travis who Celeste referred to as her "bonus son", along with her beloved family and friends. She will be sadly missed by many.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, William Godbout; by Bill's son Travis Godbout with partner Cailin Darling; by her mother Kathy Garon-Moody; by her father Guy Garon; by her two sisters, Mickey Deering with husband David, and Colleen Fogg; by brother-in-law James Godbout with wife Lynn, and brother-in-law Daniel Godbout with wife Gail; as well as by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces.

Visiting hours will be 11:00am – 1:00pm, with a funeral service beginning at 1:00pm, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Biddeford.
