Celia Jeanty Auguste, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on November 23, 1947, in Haiti. She passed away peacefully at McHenry Hospital on August 3, 2025. She entered into eternal rest to be with her Lord, joining her late husband, Fritz W. Auguste Sr.
Celia was the cherished mother of Fritz Williot Auguste Jr., James Patrick Auguste, and Marc Clifford Auguste, and the proud grandmother of Valerie, Jadah, Kadijah, Maya, and Olivia. She was also a beloved mother-in-law to Romie Auguste and May Auguste. She came from the loving Jeanty family, blessed with seven brothers, five sisters, and many nieces and nephews who adored her. Celia was also deeply shaped and cared for by Julia "Man Joule" Loiseau, a mother figure who helped raise her as a young woman, leaving a lasting imprint on her life.
For all her life, Celia was a devoted member and servant of the Catholic Church. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her every word, action, and decision.
Celia dedicated more than four decades of her life as a nursing aide, caring for residents in nursing homes with compassion and unwavering dignity. Her work was more than a job; it was a true calling. She treated every patient as if they were family, offering not just physical care but also comfort, hope, and love.
Her generosity knew no bounds. Celia had a beautiful gift for blessing others - whether through her warm smile, her quiet acts of financial kindness, a timely word of encouragement, or the delicious meals she joyfully prepared and shared with family and friends.
Celia was a woman of remarkable strength and unwavering faith. At one point, she single-handedly raised three sons while working long hours nearly every day. Yet no matter how exhausted she was, she ended each night on her knees in prayer. Her devotion was not in vain; each of her sons earned college degrees and went on to lead successful lives.
Even in times of personal pain, she never complained, choosing instead to trust in God's promises. She embodied the peace that "surpasses all understanding" (Philippians 4:7), uplifting those around her quiet hope and steadfast love.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, yet her spirit lives on in the many lives she touched. Her faith, love, and care will continue to inspire, even as she now rests in the eternal embrace of her Savior.
