Celia Jane Norman McInvale was born in Deland, Florida on June 17, 1931 and died in her home on April 6, 2025. She was 93 years old.
She was known and respected for her giftedness and talent in piano pedagogy and vocal performance. Jane began playing the piano at age 5 and started taking lessons at Stetson University shortly thereafter. She was playing classical music concerts by the time she was 10 years old.
They moved to Monticello, Florida right before she started the 9th grade. At this time, her piano teacher in Monticello told her parents that their daughter played better than she did as a teacher and recommended that she take piano lessons at Florida State University. Her father took her for piano lessons twice a week to Tallahassee, even though gas was rationed and sparse during that time. It was a sacrifice worth making do to her love and passion for music. Eventually, her piano professor at FSU recommended that she attend Montreat Girls High School in Montreat, North Carolina, which was a well-known boarding school with a strong music program. After graduating, Jane attended Florida State University with a major in piano pedagogy and minor in music education.
She met the love of her life, Willie Kenneth McInvale, Sr., at a Methodist Youth Camp in Leesburg, Florida. They were married in 1952 and she then became the pianist for College Park Baptist Church where her ministry spanned over four decades.
She also found great meaning in teaching Sunday School. She reflected God's love as a leader, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a neighbor and as a disciple of Christ.
Jane is proceeded in death by her parents Rubannah and Ralph Wick Norman, her husband of 63 years, Kenneth McInvale and her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Brotemarkle McInvale. She is survived by her son, Bill McInvale, daughters, Joy Mclnvale and Betty Jane (Richard) King; grandchildren, Ann Elizabeth, Trey (Kelly), and Austin McInvale; Travis Bourgeois; Austin (Jamie) Nugent, Shannon Carroll; Katie (David) Okey; her sister, Shirley Lanier; and her beloved great grandchildren, Bria Jane, Palmer Jane, Collins, Jack, Georgia, Henry, Margot, Drew, and James.
