Celia (Martinez) Rodriguez, 94, of Fremont, OH passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Bethesda Care Center. Celia was born on November 3, 1929 in Waelder, TX to Ascension and Amelia (Bocanegra) Martinez. Celia married Edulejes “Ed” Rodriguez on January 4, 1947 in Harlington, TX and he preceded her in death on October 27, 2009.
Celia worked for Sandusky County Nursing Home for twenty years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, baking, gardening, and walking with her friends. Celia also enjoyed garage saling and attending flea markets. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Celia is survived by her children, Linda Hickle, Melbourne, FL, Gloria (James) Laird, Eddie (Marcia) Rodriguez, Diana (Howard) Ratliff all of Fremont, OH; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ed Rodriguez; infant daughters Olga and Emily Rodriguez; siblings, Tomasa Cano, Julia Redondo, Teresa Chacon, Frank Martinez, Lucia Alicia Barron; son-in-law, Jerry Hickle.
Visitation will take place on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 10-11 a.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH 43420.
Services will take place following the visitation at 11 at the funeral home.
Private burial will take place at a later time at Lindsey Cemetery.
Memorials can be made in Celia’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
